Practical ways to find a partner at your level, and a few small rules that make the first match enjoyable for everyone.
Tennis takes two, but finding a regular partner at your level is often harder than finding a court. The ideas below work in Antalya whether you're a beginner or have played for years.
1. Be honest about your level
A good match-up starts with playing at a level you both enjoy. Ask yourself: How long a rally can I keep from the baseline? Can I serve? Have I played matches or scored games? Sharing this with the other person avoids disappointment in the first match.
2. Start with lessons and groups
Group lessons are the easiest way to meet people close to your level. You can arrange court time with players from your group outside lessons too. For the differences between group and private lessons, see this article.
3. Ask at the court you play
At the facility you visit regularly, other players come at the same times. Telling the staff, or using a club notice board, that you're looking for a partner is simple and effective. We list Antalya's public courts in the court guide.
4. Make the first match easy
- Agree on the time and court in advance; decide who books and how the court fee is shared.
- Bring new balls, or agree who will.
- At the first meet-up, rallying and a short set instead of a full match is a good way to see each other's level.
- When meeting someone for the first time, meet at a public facility and don't share personal details unless you need to.
5. Make it a habit
Playing on the same day and time each week turns a partner into a regular one. Having more than one partner also means you won't leave the court empty when someone cancels. If you want to play doubles, a small group of four makes it easy.
